H&K SL8 Alternate Design 2 2

This is a second version of the SL8, this time I went with MDF as it has a smoother surface quality compared to plywood and it does no splinter or chip. Also I put in a section of hardwood in the top to allow fasteners to be screwed in perpendicular to the body of the unit. Ply or MDF does not really like to have screws put in this way. Because this was the second one it was a lot easier to build as I knew where everything had to go. I learnt from the mistakes on the first and this one turned out really good. I spent a bit more time filling and sanding and the paint finish came up really nice.

I put in a microswitch activated trigger and recessed the three shot trigger so it looks and feels better. There are quite a few other improvements over the original, lens assy is mounted using small pieces of angle aluminium and screwed to the first layer of MDF, Lens assy has a rear plug made from sheet plastic, overall finish of the gun is better, battery compartment is more accessible.

I have also created full CAD drawings detailing all dimensions and parts location, it certainly makes it easier for future versions.
