H&K SL8 Alternate Design

I really liked the SL8 stock shape and wanted to adopt it to a new rifle, one that was a bit shorter and easier to cut out than the original SL8.

So I printed out the rear portion and got to work designing a new front end, something with more of a sci-fi look. A common problem with sticking to a real world gun shape is the need for a 50mm lens assembly in the front of the gun, this often takes away from the real design because most guns are quite thin at the front.

Again I'm using layers of plywood to construct the bulk of the gun, you will notice that there is no aluminium channel along the top - a first for me. Instead the lens assembly is resting in a channel made from the different layers of plywood. Just about all the edges have been rounded over with a router.
