H&K SL8

Newest item to the arsenal, a H&K SL8 rifle. This is a very cool looking rifle, available as a airsoft version for those interested. The shape has been simplified for this project as they always need to be.

Constructed differently than usual, plywood layers were used to give the gun extra thickness and some degree detail by using different thickness in different areas. A 4mm sheet is sandwiched by two 12mm pieces to give the stock a nice 28mm thickness. 6mm thick sections are attached to the side to create a total of 40mm to match the aluminium channel across the top.

A separate trigger mechanism was constructed as a universal replacement for future products. It is made with a standard microswitch being actuated by a tensioned trigger piece. The magazine is detachable and sits into its own magazine well.

The wiring, circuit and batteries are housed inside the plywood frame, various sections are routed out of the layers of plywood. This keeps everything concealed and well protected. It has been painted grey with black details to keep it like the civilian version with its non-threatening colour scheme.
