New gun construction:

 
The following is a guide to building your own lasertag rifle. This design allows for many possibilities in the way the finished gun will look like. The picture to the left is of the first version in a standard rifle configuration.

 

 

This picture shows the main parts of the rifle. The frame of the gun is 40mm aluminium channel. I choose 40mm because after making a few 50mm wide guns I found the weight was an issue and the thickness was really too much. Onto this a wooden stock is attached, as well as component boxes, lens assembly and scope mounts.

 

 

Here we can see most of the parts needed for the final product, including aluminium channel, angles, square tubing and flat bars. Lens assembly is made up of 50mm PVC pipe with a 50mm and 40mm pipe connector for mounting lens and IR LED.

 

 

 

Of course you should not limit yourself to this design, the same components can be rearranged to form different types of weapon. Here is a mock up of a 'bullpup' rifle configuration similar to a Steyr AUG.
