Headset Camera:

Having filmed a few games from a far I thought it would be great to really get in on the action and have a camera mounted on a gun or to a headset. I had purchased a wireless camera but had no end of trouble with it being too sensitive to run off of a 9V battery. So off to Jaycar I went and got a wired camera which I made sure ran off a 9V battery and this one also had sound - very important for the proper atmosphere.

At first I mounted it to the side of one of the guns but after a bit of testing figured that the type of footage I would get would not be that interesting. Lots of shots of the ground and the sky! So I ended up mounting it to the side off a Lock-On headset. I used one of the never used visor attachments, cut off the eyepiece and just used the actual clip to mount the camera on.

The camera wires when then attached to the elastic headband and fed around to the rear of the headset. Being a wired camera it needed something to record into. This is were my trusty Panasonic NV-GS250 digital video camera comes in, it as able to record an AV input directly to miniDV tape. I modified one of the special 4-band AV cables to feed 9V up to the camera and also to bring the video and audio signal to the camera. The camera is then placed into a backpack/harness to protect it from being damaged.
